One of our favorite aspects of photographing weddings at The Abbey Inn is the incredible variety of photoshoot options without even needing to leave the property. Some of our favorite portraits include the Hudson River overlook, out on the Grand Terrace, beautiful gardens, The Highlands Ballroom, the cornerstone room full of hand-painted walls and stained glass, and an array of stone architecture and staircases that create romantic portraits. A couple’s day may start in the spacious hotel suites, then to a first look in the gardens. The ceremony takes place on the outdoor terrace, and indoors if need be. The ceremony may be followed up with gorgeous golden hour portraits, group photos as guests enjoy cocktail hour, and candid shots as the party heads into the Ballroom for a night of celebrating.
As passionate photographers, we also appreciate that The Abbey Inn only holds one wedding per evening, instead of having to share the venue space with any other wedding parties. Abbey Inn puts all their focus and care into one couple for their unforgettable evening.
I would suggest that photographers capturing moments at this venue add some extra photo time to the timeline to allow for some really creative imaging. The sunset view is amazing, the stone work, the sculpture garden and even the hallways are filled with beautiful light and future memories.
