6 Questions To Ask Your Potential Wedding Photographer

When interviewing a potential wedding photographer, keep in mind, booking your wedding vendors is no small task. While it’s an exciting part of the wedding planning process, finding the right vendors for your big day can become stressful, real fast. However, I put together some great questions for you to ask your Hudson Valley Wedding Photographer as your search for your team.

DO YOU HAVE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE?

Not all photographers are the same. Wedding photography requires experience, know how, and really great gear. Wedding photography is fast paced, stressful at times, and the most important vendor on your wedding day. Knowing the shots to take, when and where to find the must have shots, and so much more go into the process.

Make sure you are 100% confident in your photographers ability and your decision.

WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?

Photography Style’ can mean many things, make sure you break it down and understand what you are signing up for. You will want to capture the true essence of your wedding day to share with your future family for years to come.

Some photographers only know photojournalistic style and candid, unposed images. Natural images are beautiful to capture and tell a great story. But, you will also want some posed groupings with friends and family at some point during the day.

Other photographers may only know how to capture posed photos with additional lighting which can lose the moment and spontaneity.

Our favorite, and our usual style is to blend the two; capturing the natural beautiful moments and setting up the epic images when the time is right. Our blend of wedding photography is only reached with experience, know how and a great team working together.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PHOTOGRAPHY COVERAGE?

How many hours, how many images, and what happens after the wedding, are all must asks. Understanding all these questions and answers will prepare you for a great wedding photography experience.

How many hours of coverage? How many photographers? How many images are included, are they edited? What kind of editing is done?

You will want to know all this information as you plans for the memories of your best day ever. You will not want to miss anything during the day, make sure you have enough coverage and plenty of time.

DO YOU HAVE A LIST OF PHOTOS YOU USUALLY TAKE?

Ask for a Wedding Photography Shot List – This is a list of the most popular photos requested and it will organize your thoughts around the plans of the day. Who needs to be where and when…Your family and bridal party will ask you plenty of questions regarding this topic.

DO YOU HAVE SAMPLE ALBUMS AND PRINTS?

Ask your potential photographer to see samples of their work from an entire wedding day, a full album from one couple that shows the day from start to finish. The bridal prep, details, the ceremony, candid moments, formal portraits, the reception and everything in between!

You will have a better expectation of what your whole wedding day would look like.

DO YOU OFFER WEDDING ALBUMS AND PHOTO PRODUCTS?

Another great ideas is to ask your wedding photographer if they offer printed products, such as albums, wall art and other great products to showcase the images.

Professional photographers have access to professional labs and designer products that are only accessible through professional photographers.
